Expanding our culture of compliance
Through our Office of Compliance (OOC), our experienced compliance professionals manage and execute Cencora’s Compliance Program throughout the enterprise by partnering with team members to provide proactive support and guidance to enable the business by identifying and mitigating compliance risk. Leveraging this guidance, all Cencora team members are held accountable for compliance.
We believe in transparency and operating with the highest ethical standards and encourage our team members to speak up if they have a concern about any issues that may violate our Code of Conduct. Team members may contact our compliance hotline online or by phone, with an option to report anonymously.
Reinforcing a culture of compliance through the pursuit of our purpose is foundational to our strategy. As our worldwide network expands, we are further globalizing policies and procedures to enable all team members in all geographies in which Cencora does business to meet their business objectives and responsibilities in a compliant and ethical manner. For example, in FY23, we enhanced and centralized our approach to trade sanctions compliance and export controls, including developing an updated Global Policy on Trade Compliance for launch in early FY24.
Keeping team members actively engaged
As a healthcare services organization, we are acutely aware that every interaction we have with key stakeholders such as pharmaceutical companies, prescribers, pharmacists, and other health care providers, as well as payors and patients must be grounded in ethics and transparency. Our Compliance Program provides guidance for these interactions and is designed to prevent improper influence of healthcare decision-making.
Cencora’s Compliance Program reinforces the core elements of our approach through annual compliance training for all team members. In addition, we supplemented this Global Training with targeted trainings for employees based on their roles and responsibilities. To provide additional support, we celebrated Compliance and Ethics Week throughout the enterprise and held activities to reinforce the responsibility all team members have for upholding our compliance standards.
Looking ahead, we will continue to strengthen our global approach by driving consistency in our risk tolerance, focusing on broader areas of compliance, and moving to a centralized reporting function for all compliance officers.
“Operating in today’s world requires more than being ethical and a good corporate citizen. At the intersection of compliance and ESG efforts, we are doing more than just meeting our compliance obligations; we are going further to ensure we are making ethical decisions across our global business while mitigating risk and following our core principles.”
